Citadel: Honey Bunny, the spy action web show of Citadel franchise, released on streaming platform Amazon Prime Video on Thursday, November 7, 2024. I finished the entire show at a go throughout the night. Was the all-nighter worth it?

Citadel Honey Bunny plot

Rahi alias Bunny is a stuntman in movies. But it is not his actual profession. He works for ‘Baba’ (Kay Kay Menon), who picked him up from an orphanage and mentored him. Rahil grew up to be a super-efficient agent working for his organisation. For such a mission, he hires Honey (Samantha), an aspiring actress who is evicted from her rented house for not being able to pay her rent.

Desperate situation calls for some drastic measures, and Honey tags along. Soon, she is trained by Bunny and is a quick learner.

But the situation is changed in 2000. Honey is running from pillar to post, making best use of her survival skills to save herself and her daughter Nadia. And trust me, the little one is no ordinary kid. She is sharp and appears to be tailor made to grow up and become an agent.

Citadel Honey Bunny review

Citadel: Honey Bunny is the Indian show of the Citadel universe, starring Richard Madden and Priyanka Chopra Jonas. If you are a fan of spy action dramas, you won’t be disappointed with this show, having the Russo Brothers as executive producers.

Although the first episode is a bit longer and you might have to stay patient, the show quickly picks up pace and keeps you on edge in the subsequent episodes. There is a big twist towards the end of the six-episode show and you would be like: What just happened?

Vaazha-Biopic of a Billion Boys: A nostalgic trip for billions of Indians

Director duo Raj and DK, who helmed The Family Man, Farzi and Guns and Gulaabs, have once again shown their finesse in helming thrillers. They have written the show with Sita R Menon.

The biggest positive from Citadel: Honey Bunny is Varun Dhawan. The actor, unlike his quintessential masala flicks, blends into the role of spy. He does not make hard efforts to look macho and get some whistles. If you have seen Badlapur or October, you won’t be disappointed at all.

Maharaja: Vijay Sethupathi-starrer is not for the faint-hearted

Samantha, whom we admired as Raji in Manoj Bajpayee-starrer show The Family Man, is ferocious as an agent. The action sequences in the web show look authentic and the makers have not at all made it look larger than life.

But the show stealer according to me is Kashvi Majmundar, who essays the role of Honey and Bunny’s daughter Nadia. The actor is bang on as a street-smart aspiring agent who has learnt nitty gritties of survival skills at a very young age.

Citadel Honey Bunny cast

Citadel: Honey Bunny features Varun Dhawan and Samantha in lead roles. Also featuring is Kay Kay Menon, who plays ‘Baba’, Bunny’s mentor in the show.

Shivankit Parihar, a popular actor who plays the role of a journalist inspired by Ravish Kumar in The Viral Fever’s videos, plays Bunny’s friend and colleague Chacko. Soham Majumdar, who played Shahid Kapoor’s friend in Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s Kabir Singh, plays tech expert Ludo.

Popular Tamil actor Simran plays Zooni, the head of a spy agency in the show. Saqib Saleem plays Kedar alias KD while Sikander Kher essays the role of Shaan in the show.
