Kajol’s heartfelt birthday wish to mother Tanuja: ‘Happy 81st aka 18’

Kajol took to Instagram to wish her mother and veteran actor Tanuja on her 81st birthday. “If birthdays were flowers we would have flooded the table.. happy happy 81st aka 18 to our evergreen, crazy, beautiful goddess ! Love you to the moon and back momma,” the actor posted.

The photo shared by Kajol on her Instagram handle shows her and sister Tanishaa Mukerji standing next to mother Tanuja.

Actor Archana Puran Singh commented,”Happyyyyyy birthday Tanujaji♥️☺️🥳🎊 Much love, hugs and kisses.”

“Happy birthday Tanuja Aunty,” Shamita Shetty commented on Kajol’s post.

On Sunday, Kajol had posted a picture with her mother and sister Tanishaa on the occasion of Daughter’s Day.

“Happy daughters day to all these gorgeous girls .. and off course my diva, and to all those I know and those I don’t .. we don’t need a day to celebrate that we are daughters but it sure feels good.. and all we need is a chance to eat cake anyways ;),” she wrote.

Born to Shobhna Samarth and Kumarsen Samarth, Tanuja is the younger sister of late actress Nutan. She made her acting debut in 1950 film Hamari Beti. She was noticed for her performance in 1966 film Baharein Phir Bhi Aayengi. The Shaheed Latif directorial featured Dharmendra, Mala Sinha, Deven Verma, Rehman Khan and Johnny Walker in pivotal roles.

She then appeared in 1967 hit Jewel Thief. The Vijay Anand directorial featured Dev Anand, Vyjyanthimala, Ashok Kumar and Helen. Tanuja received a Filmfare Best Supporting Actress nomination for her performance.

In 1970, Tanuja shared the screen space with Ashok Kumar, Bishwajeet and Mala Sinha in Paisa Ya Pyaar. She won her first Filmfare Award in Best Supporting Actress category. A year later, she played Rajesh Khanna’s wife in Haathi Mere Saathi, a film that centered around the bond between human being and elephants.

Tanuja later worked in films like Anubhav, Prem Rog, Mere Jeevan Saathi, Saathiya, Bhoot, Khakee and more.
