Action thriller ‘Tanaav 2’ premiered on OTT platform Sony LIV on September 6. The six-episode second instalment was released nearly two years after the first version landed on our devices. The official Hindi remake of popular Israeli series ‘Fauda’ (translated as chaos) is set in the backdrop of Kashmir.

Tanaav 2 is directed by Sudhir Mishra and E Niwas, backed by Applause Entertainment. The series witnesses major actors reprise their roles. Manav Vij returns as Special Task Group (STG) officer Kabir Farooqui with more intensity and ferociousness.

Rajat Kapoor continues to don the role of master strategist and diplomat as Jagjit Malik. Arbaaz Khan as Vikrant Rathore will be leading the STG as its unit commander. The anti-terror group has a new threat to tackle in form of Fareed Mir alias Al Damishq.

Essayed by Gaurav Arora, Al Damishq is fiercely vengeful and out to ‘settle’ his scores with Kabir. The series also features Danish Hussain, Shashank Arora, Sukhmani Sadana, Rajesh Jais, Ekta Kaul, Sahiba Bali, Satyadeep Mishra, Zayn Marie Khan, Kabir Bedi and Soni Razdan.

Tanaav 2 plot

The second season begins from where the first instalment ended. After the death of Umar Riaz aka Panther, the STG brace for a bigger and more dangerous threat. Fareed Meer (Arora) is the son of Meer Saab, who was killed in the first season. Fareed has returned from Syria after 10-12 years. Trained by ISIS, he adopts the name ‘Al Damishq’. Meanwhile, Junaid takes over as the head of terrorist group Harkat.

Fareed has revenge on his mind and has vowed to eliminate Kabir. The latter has returned to the STG for a mission after a short stint in jam making. But his ferociousness and patriotism is intact. The entire season is replete with a high-stakes showdown between Kabir and Al Damishq, with both baying for each other’s blood. But Fareed has a more sinister and deadly plan for Kashmir and India.

Tanaav 2 review

As a fan of ‘Fauda’ universe, I was a bit apprehensive regarding how the Indian remake turn out to be. The first season was indeed an edge-of-a-seat thriller. Sumit Kaul as Umar Riaz had set the tone for a gripping series and now Gaurav Arora has taken the show to a next level.

Not to forget Manav Vij, who retains the same intensity. Ekta Kaul as Farah deserves the praise for her stellar performance. Not to forget Rajat Kapoor, whose role as Jagjit Malik reminds me of Captain Ayub in ‘Fauda’.

If you are a fan of espionage and such action thrillers, I recommend you should watch this.
