One Hundred Years of Solitude, the series based on Nobel laureate Gabriel Garcia Marquez’s acclaimed novel of the same name, is coming on Netflix.
The show will release in two parts comprising eight episodes each, the first of which will stream on Netflix on December 11.

Netflix show One Hundred Years of Solitude is directed by Alex Garcia Lopez and Laura Mora Ortega. The show features Eduardo De Los Reyes as Aureliano Buendia. Claudio Cataño plays Colonel Aureliano Buendia. Marco González, Susana Morales and Ella Becerra also feature in the show.
“I think the scripts and the direction combine both aspects of magic and humanity, of exuberance and realism. From the performing side of it, it was an arduous and exquisite pleasure,” Claudio Catano had told Netflix website Tudum. He is known for films like Aurora, Horizonte and Thousand Fangs.

In March 2019, Netflix had announced it acquired rights to adapt Marquez’s bestselling novel into a show. Rodrigo Garcia and Gonzalo García Barcha, Marquez’s sons are the executive producers for the show.
“Directing this project has been both a challenge and an adventure; after all, in life, taking risks is necessary to give meaning to what we do,” Alex Garcia Lopez, who directed episodes 1,2,3,7 and 8, told Netflix.
One Hundred Years of Solitude plot
Authored by Gabriel Garcia Marquez, One Hundred Years of Solitude is a multi-generational story of the Buendia family set in the fictional town of Macondo. It revolves around Jose Arcadio and Ursula Iguaran, the cousins who get married against their parents’ wishes and leave their village.
Their voyage to discover a new home leads to the founding of a utopian town on the banks of a river of prehistoric stones that they named Macondo.
