Akshay Kumar will turn 57 on September 9 this year. Ahead of his birthday, the superstar took to social media and dropped a video poster.
“Ganpati Bappa Morya! 🙏 What could be better than a day like today to hint at something special coming your way? ✨ The reveal is set for my birthday 🎉 Stay tuned!” the Jolly LLB 2 actor posted on Instagram as Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations began.
According to several media reports, Kumar might make an announcement related to a horror-comedy film he is doing with veteran filmmaker Priyadarshan.
Earlier this year, Priyadarshan told Hindustan Times that the project will be a fantasy film and set in the backdrop of black magic.
Akshay Kumar’s collaborations with Priyadarshan
Akshay Kumar first collaborated with Priyadarshan in 2000 with Hera Pheri. The comedy film also featuring Paresh Rawal, Suniel Shetty, Tabu, Om Puri, Gulshan Grover and Kulbhushan Kharbanda enjoys a cult following among masses.
Kumar teamed up with the director again in 2005 comedy ‘Garam Masala’, which also featured John Abraham. Paresh Rawal, Rimi Sen, Neha Dhupia, Daisy Bopanna and Neetu Chandra also featured in the film.

Akshay Kumar and Priyadarshan again worked together in 2006 comedy ‘Bhagam Bhag’. The commercially successful film had Govinda, Paresh Rawal, Lara Dutta, Jackie Shroff, Asrani, Sharat Saxena and Manoj Joshi in pivotal roles.
‘Bhool Bhulaiya’, the 2007 psychological thriller was the fourth film of the duo. Besides Akshay Kumar, the film also had Vidya Balan, Ameesha Patel, Shiney Ahuja, Rajpal Yadav and others. The film was an official remake of Mohanlal-starrer Malayalam flick Manichitrathazhu.
In 2009, Akshay Kumar and Priyadarshan worked together in De Dana Dan, which featured Suniel Shetty, Katrina Kaif, Paresh Rawal and Sameera Reddy.
In 2010, ‘Khatta Meetha’ was the last film Akshay Kumar and Priyadarshan worked together. A remake of Malayalam film Vellanakalude Nadu, it also featured Trisha, Rajpal Yadav, Johnny Lever, Asrani, Urvashi Sharma, Manoj Joshi and Aruna Irani.

Akshay Kumar, who has had a string of unsuccessful films in the recent times, recently appeared in a cameo in Rajkummar Rao-Shraddha Kapoor starrer Stree 2. He has other films including ‘Skyforce’, ‘Welcome To The Jungle’, ‘Shankara’, ‘Jolly LLB 3’ and other projects slated to release soon.
