‘Vicky Kaushal! What are you?’: Alia Bhatt praises actor on Chhaava success

Vicky Kaushal-starrer Chhaava has shattered several box office records and is running successfully at the theatres. Fans and critics have lauded Kaushal for his portrayal of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj in the Laxman Utekar directorial.

Alia Bhatt took to Instagram to praise her Raazi co-star. “Vicky Kaushal! What are you????? Cannot get over your performance in Chhaava! @vickykaushal09,” the actor wrote.

Alia and Kaushal shared the screen space in Meghna Gulzar’s spy drama Raazi. The film released in 2018 was a commercial success. Based on Harinder Sikka’s 2008 novel Calling Sehmat, the film also featured Soni Razdan, Rajit Kapur, Jaideep Ahlawat, Shishir Sharma, Arif Zakaria, Amruta Khanvilkar and Ashwath Bhatt.

Several Bollywood stars have congratulated Vicky Kaushal for his portrayal of the Maratha warrior king in the historical drama.

Vicky Kaushal’s wife Katrina Kaif took to Instagram to praise her better half. ” @vickykaushal09 you truly are outstanding, every time you come on screen, every shot, the intensity you bring on screen, you are a chameleon the way you transform to your characters, effortless and fluid,I’m so proud of you and your talent,” she posted.

Directed by Laxman Utekar, Chhaava is a historical drama based on the book of the same name by Shivaji Sawant. The Maddock Films flick portrays Chhattrapati Sambhaji Maharaj’s war against Mughal emperor Aurangzeb.



“With prayers and gratitude in our hearts… we finally bring you #CHHAAVA in cinemas TODAY! May the fearless spirit and unwavering courage of the great Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj be forever etched in our hearts and may his legacy continue to inspire generations to come,” Kaushal had said ahead of the film’s release.

Besides Kaushal, the film features Akshaye Khanna, Rashmika Mandanna, Divya Dutta, Ashutosh Rana and others. Chhaava hit the theatres on February 14.

It is Kaushal’s first release this year. In 2024, the actor appeared in Anand Tiwari’s comedy flick Bad Newz. The film featured Triptii Dimri and Ammy Virk in pivotal roles. Bad Newz was touted as a “spiritual sequel” to 2019 hit Good Newwz, directed by Raj Mehta.

The film based on the subject of in vitro fertilization (IVF) featured Akshay Kumar, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Diljit Dosanjh and Kiara Advani in pivotal roles.
